Dr. Alain S. Miatudila Sr. ’03, ’12, ’16
Distinguished Alumni Award
Alain S. Miatudila, Sr. is associate dean of engineering at Central Piedmont Community College, where he is responsible for strategic planning and academic affairs for 10 undergraduate programs. In 2023, he was a visiting professor at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Kinshasa, where his visionary leadership catalyzed collaborations between that university and U.S. universities, fostering academic exchanges, dynamic lectures and mentorship for students.
Prior to CPCC, Alain was a faculty associate at UNC Charlotte in the Department of Engineering Technology and Construction Management.
Alain serves on the advisory board for the Academy of Engineering at Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Independence High School and Mallard Creek High School, and serves as president of the Congolese Association of Engineers. The National Organization for Student Success recognized him as the 2021 Outstanding National Alumnus of a Student Success program.
Alain earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology, his master’s degree in civil engineering and his Ph.D. in civil engineering, all from the William States Lee College of Engineering. He earned his associate’s degree in applied science-civil engineering technology from CPCC.
