Susan DeVore ’81

Susan DeVore is a woman of influence in Charlotte and beyond, writing the script on the power of women in leadership. She is the retired CEO of Premier, one of the nation’s leading health care improvement companies.

As an industry-leading thinker, she has been named multiple times to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People and Top 25 Women in Healthcare lists. She received the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2018 Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award, was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2017 100 Great Healthcare Leaders to Know and was recognized as a 2016 UNC Charlotte Distinguished Alumnus.

Susan has led and served on numerous boards and committees, including the board of Elevance Health and Unum Group, Healthcare Leadership Council and the Coalition to Protect America’s Healthcare. She served on the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2023; serving as chair from 2021 to 2023. 

Susan recently established the Susan Dodson DeVore Women’s Leadership Development Program at UNC Charlotte to support the next generation of women leaders, which will launch in fall 2024.

Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Belk College of Business and her master’s degree in health leadership from McGill University.
