Debbie and Sadler Barnhardt

Honorary Alumni Award
Debbie and Sadler Barnhardt have embraced UNC Charlotte as an extension of their community and city. It’s as natural for them to support and serve the University as it has been for them to serve and support their church and multiple community organizations.
The Barnhardts’ have been significant donors to the 49ers athletics program over the years, impacting every aspect of the program. They have supported a number of athletic capital projects and established two endowed funds that will support generations of student-athletes. In Spring 2020, the Barnhardts’ supported RallyGreen, an initiative that allowed UNC Charlotte to make scholarship support available to spring student-athletes to extend their eligibility by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to supporting athletics, the Barnhardt’s have contributed to the Chancellor’s Fund, Belk College of Business and various scholarship funds. When the University sought support for a hotel and conference center, the Barnhardts’ stepped up to ensure the project could move forward, knowing it was an important step toward UNC Charlotte becoming a top-tier research university.
In addition to their generous financial support, the Barnhardts’ also spend their time at UNC Charlotte, regularly attending campus and athletic events. Sadler serves on the UNC Charlotte Athletics Foundation Board and chairs the finance committee. Because of Sadler’s hard work and dedication, he is one of only two individuals to hold Director Emeritus status for long-time service. The Barnhardts’ give generously of their time, talent and treasure, serving as role models for students, alumni, colleagues and community members.
Both Sadler and Debbie are real estate brokers with Cottingham Chalk in Charlotte.
