Susan Jamison ’78

Distinguished Alumni Award
Susan Jamison hasn’t looked back since receiving her accounting degree from the Belk College of Business, which paved the way for her successful 40-year career as a certified public accountant.
Susan started in public accounting in the audit department in the Charlotte Office of KPMG, when it was known as Peat, Marwick, Mitchell. She then went to work for Belk, Inc., where she held several positions, including vice president and tax advisor, retiring from the company in 2014. Susan was integral in connecting the Belk family and company to UNC Charlotte, resulting in tremendous levels of support. Currently, Susan manages her own consulting firm, Wealth Matters LLC, helping family offices and private foundations. Preserving wealth for successful families is one of Susan’s passions.
One of Susan’s other passions is supporting UNC Charlotte. She has used her career success to give back to her university and her community. In 2018, she established the Susan N. Jamison Accounting Scholarship to support rising juniors and seniors from North Carolina enrolled in the Turner School of Accountancy, giving preference to those like herself who are first-generation college students and from the state’s rural areas. As a recipient of a merit scholarship, Susan knows personally how scholarships can change the direction of a young person’s life.
Susan currently serves on the UNC Charlotte Foundation Board. She received the Belk College of Business Distinguished Alumna Award in 2019 and previously served on the Alumni Board of Directors. Susan also serves in various capacities with organizations in the community including the Development Committee of the Women’s Impact Fund. She is a member of the John M. Belk Endowment Investment Committee, the Queens University Planned Giving Council and the Central Piedmont Community College Foundation Board.
