Victoria Watlington knows how to get work done, whether it is on her job as a service operations manager at The Coca-Cola Company, or in her West Charlotte neighborhood.

Watlington earned her master’s degree in engineering management from UNC Charlotte in 2013 and has held management positions with Procter & Gamble, Sealed Air Corporation and The Coca-Cola Company.

She’s also chosen to put her leadership skills to use in her community, advocating to make it an even more vibrant place to live, work and play.

“Charlotte itself: The people, the places, and also the potential. Being a part of that and creating the community that I would like to live in going forward is what inspires me,” said Victoria, after receiving the 2017 Charlotte Chamber Young Professionals’ Business Leader Award.

Victoria has spent the last 10 years helping to build up her neighborhood through her service in organizations such as the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition, where she is chair of its Land Use Committee. She has also committed herself to working with the city of Charlotte to develop a holistic area plan for the West Boulevard Corridor.

Victoria is vice-chair of Charlotte’s Civil Service Board, the co-chair of the United Way Central Carolinas Young Leaders Council’s Programming Committee, and a member of the city’s Business Advisory Committee. She is a candidate for the District 3 seat on the Charlotte City Council.

Victoria’s advocacy and activism have not gone unnoticed. In addition to being named the 2017 recipient of the Young Professional Award by the Charlotte Chamber, she was also named Pride Magazine’s Outstanding Millennial in 2018. Additionally, she was a member of the 2018 class of Elevate Lifestyle’s 30 Under 30 Future Leaders of Charlotte.

As a passionate member of the National Society of Engineers, Victoria has led programs that support African American students enrolled in engineering programs at UNC Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University, North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T University.

Victoria is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and attends Elevation Church.
