Alumni Email

The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association is pleased to offer email addresses for alumni!

The Alumni Email program provides UNC Charlotte graduates who have received a Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or a Doctorate degree with a free @alumni.charlotte.edu email account via Gmail, the University’s current email service.

Important Information

  • Class of 2024 graduates won’t be able to register to receive an alumni email address until 4-6 weeks after your official graduation day.
  • Your username will be your NinerNET username when you attended UNC Charlotte (e.g.,nniner49). At this time, your NinerNET username cannot be changed. If you graduated before 1988, please contact Alumni Engagement to have one created.
  • Your display name will have your first (or preferred) and last name that are currently in the system. If you want a different display name, please contact Alumni Engagement prior to registering for your account.
  • Your alumni email address will be @alumni.charlotte.edu.
  • Only the Gmail (email) portion of Google is offered to alumni.  Other Google products such as Drive, Calendar, etc. are not included or offered with the alumni email address.

Alumni who claimed their email address prior to December 2023 will need to login using their username@alumni.uncc.edu address.

Is my alumni email linked to my student email?
  1. On your school account, go to Transfer your content.
  2. Enter the email address of the Google Account where you want to copy your content.
  3. Select Get code.
  4. On your Google Account, check your Gmail inbox for a confirmation email from Google. In the email, select Get confirmation code. A new tab will open with a code.
  5. On your school account, go back to the “Transfer your content” page. Enter the code, then choose Verify.
  6. Choose the content you’d like to copy, then select Start transfer.
What should I do if I forget my password?

If you have forgotten your password, please use the “Forgot username/password” link on alumniemail.charlotte.edu.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my alumni email?

If you are having problems with your alumni email, please contact us through the Alumni Email Support Form and we will assist you within two business days.

Can I set up more than one @alumni.charlotte.edu.edu email address?

No, UNC Charlotte alumni are assigned only one @alumni.charlotte.edu alumni email address.

Does my alumni email expire?

Your alumni email will only expire if there is no activity on the account within 2 years.

Will UNC Charlotte send me emails at this new address?

UNC Charlotte wants to stay in touch with all of our alumni. We will use your preferred email address in our database to keep you up to date on what’s happening at UNC Charlotte and in the alumni community. Send an email to 49erAlumni@charlotte.edu and let us know your preferred email address.

Can I keep using my alumni email address if I resume my studies at UNC Charlotte?

Yes, you can continue to use your Alumni Email if you return to UNC Charlotte as a student or employee. However, you will get a standard NinerNET account as well; official university email will be sent to the standard NinerNET account.

How do I make my alumni email my preferred email for all university communications?

Why can’t I have the same email I had when I was a student at UNC Charlotte?

Student and alumni email accounts are two separate products from Google and are not connected.

Can I choose or change my @alumni.charlotte.edu email address?

No, your @alumni.charlotte.edu email address is automatically assigned. You cannot customize or change this.

Can I forward this account to another email address?

Is my personal information secure?

Yes, your information is secure. We do suggest setting up Google’s 2-step verification for additional security. Enrollment instructions can be found here.
