The UNC Charlotte GOLD Alumni Network has announced the recipients of the 2024 10 Under Ten Awards. The following alumni will be recognized for advancing their fields and communities at the seventh annual awards ceremony in February 2025.

2024 marks the fourth year of economic growth in North Carolina since the COVID-19 pandemic recession of 2020, even as Hurricane Helene’s destruction in the western part of the state dampened the state’s overall economy in the fourth quarter.

A two-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year and newly minted MAC champion, Tim Albin from Ohio University was named Charlotte’s fourth full-time head football coach, Sunday, Dec. 8.

During four ceremonies, more than 3,600 students will be recognized with degrees and graduate certificates. Graduates represent 25 countries, 28 states and 86 North Carolina counties.

UNC Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing research universities in the nation, climbing 46 spots year-over-year, according to the National Science Foundation’s Higher Education Research and Development Survey rankings, which were released Nov. 25. 

The number of people who moved to the Charlotte metro from 2022 to 2023 could create a new city about the size of Huntersville or Kannapolis, with 49,000+ newcomers moving here. The longer view from 2014 to 2023 shows that 471,750+ people have located to the Charlotte area.

UNC Charlotte continues to rank as a top university for return on investment for research expenditures, according to a new national survey. 

UNC Charlotte ranks No. 1 in North Carolina and among the top 75 universities in the nation for awarding bachelor’s degrees to minority students, according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education’s 2024 Diverse 100 rankings.
